PECAN SANDIES

1/2 c. butter 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening (such as Crisco) 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar 1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 1/2 c. sifted flour sugar
Cream butter and shortening. Gradually add sugar. Cream again. Sift dry
ingredients together. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Chill
1/2 hour. Shape into 1" balls and place 2" apart on greased cookie sheet.
Flatten balls to 1/3" thick with glass dipped in sugar.
Bake at 350 F for 12-15 minutes.
